Recorded in the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine and in the Grand Canyon, the Missa Gaia CD features The Paul Winter Consort, vocalist Susan Osborn and the Cathedral choir.
The CD's 15 tracks of unique music combine jazz, Gregorian chants, driving African and Brazilian rhythms and powerful gospel singing. Interspersed are the natural sounds of whales, eagles. seals, loons and wolves.
Paul Winter's distinctive soprano saxophone sound ranges from jazz to worldly, melodic to eerie, often imitating the cries of the wolf and whale.
The Missa Gaia / Earth Mass is truly a wonderfully rare musical experience.
